I'm going to break down what Andromeda actually is, why the standard advice doesn't work for smaller accounts, and give you a practical framework that does.

Andromeda is Meta's new AI-powered system for deciding which ads to show to which people. Think of it like this:

The Old System: Meta looked at your targeting parameters (age, interests, location) and showed your ad to people who fit that profile.

The New System (Andromeda): Meta's AI analyzes millions of signals about user behavior and matches them with different creative variations to determine not just who should see an ad, but which specific ad that person should see.

Instead of asking 'who should see this ad?', Andromeda asks 'which ad should this person see?'

The system can now process 10,000x more creative variations than before, using advanced AI to personalize which specific angle, format, and message gets shown to each user based on their behavior patterns.

Why Meta's 'Best Practices' Don't Work For Small Budgets

Here's where the problems start. Meta's official recommendations post-Andromeda include:

• Use broad targeting (minimal audience restrictions)

• Use Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) to let the algorithm allocate spend

• Run 10-20 creative variations per campaign

✗ The algorithm allocates 80% of your budget to 2-3 ads based on early engagement signals (not actual conversions)

✗ Your other ads get $1-3 per day, never generating enough data to prove themselves

This is where we completely diverge from the standard advice. Instead of putting multiple ads in one ad set and letting the algorithm choose winners based on limited data, we give each creative angle its own ad set with full budget.

Format options (pick the best fit for each angle):

Video (30-60 seconds): Best for angles that need personality, authority, or explanation. Talking head or screen recording. Add captions.

Static Image: Best for angles with a strong visual hook or shocking stat. Eye-catching graphic with text overlay. Use Canva.

Carousel: Best for angles showing a process, before/after, or multiple proof points. 3-5 images with text overlays.

Example setup:

Example: Angle 1 won your initial test. Now test formats:

• Ad Set C: Angle 1 as carousel

Run this for another 5-7 days. Now you know which format of your winning angle performs best. THAT'S your scaling candidate.

What About Creative Refresh?

Andromeda doesn't eliminate ad fatigue. It just changes how quickly it sets in. With broader targeting, your ads reach larger audiences faster.

Creative Refresh Cadence:

• Weeks 1-2: Launch and test your initial 3 angles

DO use CBO when:

✓ Scaling proven winners (angle + format combination that works)

✓ Your account generates 50+ conversions per week consistently

✓ All ad sets in the campaign share the same audience and objective

✓ You're comfortable giving up granular control for potential efficiency gains

The Bottom Line: Adapt Smart, Don't Surrender Control

Andromeda is real, and it has changed the game. But 'letting the algorithm do everything' is advice designed for advertisers who don't have to worry about wasting $2,000 on bad creative decisions.

For small businesses, the winning strategy post-Andromeda is:

1. Give Andromeda what it wants: Broad targeting and diverse creative angles

2. Keep what you need: Budget control during testing to ensure statistical validity
